Positivity and Mental Health
In the past 5 years, the day to day stay at home Mum grind has played games with my mindset and my mental health. I always used to be a very positive laid back person, however since having kids and suffering with Post Natal Depression and Anxiety, I have needed a lot of help to maintain that positive mindset. I am not shy in sharing that I am currently on an Anti-Depressant Medication, because I think we need to work at removing the stigma around medication for mental health illnesses.
If you are struggling with your Mental Health, please seek professional help. It is an illness that needs professional help. It does not make you weak or less of a person for saying I need help.
So on top of my medication, I use a number of tools on a daily basis to help keep positive thoughts at the front of my mind. One of those tools is podcasts and audio books. So to follow on from my post on my favourite podcasts for Creative Entrepreneurs, here are my favourite go to podcasts to help cultivate a positive mindset.
Podcasts to help grow a Positive Mindset
I recenetly listened to an episode with just Jocelyn on Productivity Shame and it blew my mind. Listen to it here. This podcast is excellent and I am slowly digging my way back through the archives. There is such great information about how to stay productive and creative and inspired. Check this one out if none others.
This podcast is a new one to me, but the 4 episodes I have listened to I have loved!
Ruth Soukup runs the Elite Blog Academy so is obviously incredibly knowledgeable, and I find her interviews so useful in learning real life tips to apply to overcome my own fears.
I don't know why, but I resisted reading 'Girl, Wash your face' for the longest time. I am so glad I finally read it and discovered the awesome voice of Rachel Hollis!
This chick just tells it like it is. She isn't ashamed of her own big goals and dreams and isn't shy in just getting out there and making it happen.
There are so many varying episodes in her podcast feed, so go and check it out.
I like this podcast for its bite-sized episodes of inspiration to give you a quick pick up when you need it the most. I often scroll through this one and choose out the topics I am interested in and give myself a bit of a 'Daily Boost'.
Another great podcast for small doses of inspiration, motivation and positivity. This podcasts tagline is 'Changing Your Life in 12 Minutes or Less', and it is so true. You can afford to spend 12 minutes each day listening to some positivity to boost your mood and your outlook for the day.

Oprah's Super Soul Conversations are a favourite of mine. There aren't too many people who don't like Oprah. (I'm sure there is some out there, but I'm not one of them!) I love these podcasts. Anything from 20 minutes to over an hour. You can really get right into the minds of her guests.

In the future I will be sharing my favourite books to read and audio books to listen to. I have pretty much stopped reading novels lately. I would find my mind wandering too far into this fictitious world and having trouble pulling myself out of it and focusing on reality. Which is fine every once in a while, but not too often like was happening when I was struggling with anxiety and depression.
